This past month we had the awesome opportunity to create a 3D animation logo for a production company based out in Los Angeles. Jeremy Cordy, founder of Sicker and Sweeter Productions, is a filmmaker and producer that has contributed in creating great indie films like Porking Mandy and The Purgation. Jeremy contacted us to see if we could potentially revive his logo into the 3D world to give it more of a punch. We obliged.
What was your vision/input of what you wanted your new logo to be?
I wanted a new logo that established my brand of films which are horror and comedy. Something simple, fun and with a bit of edge.
What do you think you new logo will do for your future line of work?
I believe this logo sets up my audience for what I intend to deliver to them. It has a sort of indie epicness to it and a movement that you don’t see on logos anymore. The black background mixed with the bright letters along with the shine are going to prep my future films for unconventional greatness. I hope it will be iconic one day.
Based off of Jeremy’s notes, we went with the concept of creating a dark, twisted environment that would be mixed with a playful, sadistical tone. Reds, grays and blues were used for our color palette as we also chose orange and white highlights to accent the space. The great thing about the workflow is that it was all performed in After Effects CC 2015 with the use of Video Copilot’s plug in Element 3D version 2.
We were thrilled to have the chance to help create the logo for we believe this could be a great opportunity to help other filmmakers and creatives with their future or current logos for their production company.
