Production Log 3

June 27, 2012Blog, GauntletJeff Loehrke

Time.  The true antagonist to any video or filmmakers vision.  I am fully aware of how little time I now have left to prepare for my shoot in August (less than six weeks).  However, let’s recap on what I have accomplished during this crazy past month of June 2012.

  1. Production Book:  Shot list, production schedules, call sheets, storyboards, etc., etc., etc.  Hard to believe how thick the book actually is because I’m only shooting one third of the film during our production time.  There are a few scheduled scenes that need to be planned out, however I’m confident that we can accomplish all the pre-planned shots and storyboards before July 16th, my targeted date for completion.
  2. Location:  I’ve been preparing diligently on the locations for the films’ time period and for the gaming system’s shots.  I can’t thank enough the people who have invested their blood, sweat, and tears in helping me in this arduous task.
  3. Actors:  Talking with the actors on a regular basis has helped immensely in the creative development for the project.  I strongly encourage cooperative development in evolving my projects.  Costumes, tactics, objectives were all discussed and will be the focal point of discussions leading into July.  Aside from the communication, I’ve sent out individual portfolios with all the information the actor needs in order to be fully prepared come Aug. 8th, thr first day of shooting.

Lines, prop list, finalizing costumes and rehearsals will take the lead in my priority list for the month of July.  Equipment rentals and crew commitments will also take place.  It’s crunch time and I am still thrilled and focused for my project to become a reality.  The next Production Log I hope to show you behind the scenes stills during our filming.  Stay tuned!

“It takes two years on the stage for an actor or an actress to learn how to speak correctly and to manage his voice properly, and it takes about ten years to master the subtle art of being able to hold one’s audience.”

– D. W. Griffith (The Birth of a Nation, Intolerance, and Broken Blossoms)
